Bug List
This list is here to track bugs in keynote. Found a bug? Let everyone know and e-mail it to us.

Solutions to Problems
This is an older list we compiled a few years back. It hasn't been updated in quite a while. Got a solution to a problem? E-mail us.

Apple's Support Page
Check out Apple's Support page for Keynote. You'll find Apple's Knowledge Base articles, Keynote Forums and other good information. Make sure not to miss the "More Keynote 'How to' articles " in the list of Top questions. There's a LOT of good info there.

Keynote Group
The Keynote Group is a Yahoo e-mail list we created that Keynote users can join to get support from other Keynote users.

Installing Raw Themes

Themes that have no installer should be place in the Library/Application Support/Keynote/Themes folder (You may have to make the Themes folder). You can also put them in this folder inside your Home/User folder.

Images can be dropped into Keynote by dragging them from the Finder to your Presentation, or by using the Place command (see Importing Files )

2-5-07 PowerBlue Issues

PowerBue Extras Tile fill issues

On slide 2 of the PowerBlue Extras file, there is a page of color tiles and shadow settings. The Top blue and orange tiles are built so that you can copy the fill style and paste the stlye onto your own images. Below those are the 6 chart tiles. They were supposed to be built the same way but were not (if you're reading this, the version posted in our store now is fixed). Thankfully we included the chart fills in the "Original Graphics" folder along side the Extras file. Simply click on your object of choice in your presentation, choose the Graphic Inspector (the one with the ruler on it) and then choose Image fill. If an "Open" window doesn't appear, click the Choose button. Then navigate to this folder: Hard Drive > Users > Shared > Keynote Additions > KeynoteUser > PowerBlue Extras > Original Graphics and choose one of the 6 tile png files. If you'd rather just have a fixed version, you can email us at support@keynoteuser.com and we'll send you a new download link.

Keynote Gallery Issues

KeynoteGallery.com Aquisition

Keynoteuser.com has acquired KeynoteGallery.com and will be handling customer support from this point on. If you are a former KeynoteGallery customer and need help, feel free to e-mail us at keynotegallery@keynoteuser.com.

KeynoteUser.com Keynote 3 Issues

Theme Problems
There are no major problems with our themes in Keynote 3. Here is a list of small glitches we've found:

  • All of our themes except Candy 2 are available for Keynote 1, as such, opening them in Keynote 3 causes the distance between the bullets and bullet text to get a value of NaN. Changing this number can sometimes fix things. If you haven't purchased a theme yet, you'll want to make sure you buy the K2/K3 version and NOT the K1 version.
  • When you switch to a 3d chart, sometimes the colors can get washed out. We suggest simply changing the fill colors to a solid color, or copying the style of the solid color chips in the extras files that come with our themes, and pasting those solid colors on your chart shapes.

We are working on updating the themes and installers of all our packages to work with Keynote 2 and above, and we'll be changing the installation location of the extras files as mentioned in the Keynote 2 issues below. If you wish to be sent a download link for the new installers, e-mail us at support@keynoteuser.com

Update 4-24-06: All of our themes have been updated for Keynote 2 and 3. If you'd like a FREE update to your product (this doesn't include an update from Candy 1 to Candy 2), feel free to e-mail us.

KeynoteUser.com Keynote 2 Issues

Theme Problems
There are no major problems with our themes in Keynote 2. Here is a list of small glitches we've found:

  • You may notice small text alignment problems. These can usually be fixed by adjusting a text box on the master slide with the error. Fixing it on the master will fix it on all the slides that use that master.
  • The Frames sets appear in a backward order. This is due to how Keynote 2 reads not only theme names, but folder names. The folder names are actually alphabetically backwards, but Keynote ignored this. If it bothers you, you can pull the themes OUT of their folders and put them all in one place. The themes can be found here:
    Hard Drive/Library/Application Support/Keynote/Themes
  • At least one user has seen color shifts in the Candy jell cap headers between K1 and K2. We're still looking into this one.

Other Problems

  • You can't get to the Extras from inside Keynote 2. This is a very annoying problem. We suggest you move them from here:
Hard Drive/Library/Application Support/Keynote/Image Library (there's also a folder called Samples in there with goodies in it)
    to here:
    Hard Drive/Users/Shared/
and make a folder called Keynote Additions. Several theme makers are going to be using that same folder to put extras in for future installers. You can then make a short cut to this folder in the dock or elsewhere.

Older KeynoteUser.com Tech Issues

Keynote Address Theme Scale down problem
This should be fixed with the 1.1 update that is now out, since it comes with both 800x600 and 1024x768 versions of the theme. If you have not gotten an e-mail about the 1.1 update and you own 1.0, e-mail us to get the update.

Keynote Address Theme PDF problems
If you use the print window to create a PDF "preview" you may notice thin lines on pages containing photo cutouts. This problem is fixed with the 1.1 update. If you have not gotten an e-mail about the 1.1 update and you own 1.0, e-mail us to get the update.

Keynote Address Theme Read-me file corrections
In the early Keynote address installer, the read-me section incorrectly listed the location of the Extras. They are NOT in the Samples folder, but instead can be accessed by choosing "Open Image Library..." from the File menu inside Keynote. We're sorry for any confusion this might have caused.

Panther Installer Problem
If you are having trouble installing any of our themes that were purchased BEFORE Panther shipped, and you are getting errors in the install, E-mail us to get a new installer.

Lowercase Theme Slide Name Problem
There is a naming problem in really early versions of the lowercase Blue and Orange themes. If you have BOTH themes, you may have problems with Keynote picking the right photo cutout if you choose to switch themes while working on your presentation. We have created a fixed version, so if you are having problems, you can E-mail us to request a new download of the fixed copy.

Frames Update
If you bought Frames on or before July 13th, 2003 and are still using Keynote 1, you may need the Frames 1.1 updater. We have decided NOT to post this publicly, but if you e-mail us, we can send you a download link to the updater. This includes several slide name fixes, adds several missing slides, and includes the new PDF catalog.
E-mail us to request the Frames 1.1 updater
