| This is a quick tutorial prompted by my answer to a question on the Apple Keynote Discussion List. Someone needed to have two columns of bullets next to each other, and didn't want to have to build the bullet lists totally by hand. Sadle, I tried this with AppleWorks and it didn't work.
UPDATED! I was informed by a reader that the instructions were missing an important setting in OmniGraffle-transparent background. That has now been added to this tutorial.
Also, this tutorial works just as well with the OS X Preview app, so if you don't have OmniGraffle, you can still do this.
Step 1.
Create your first slide with the first set of bullets where you want them.
Step 2.
Copy Your first slide by clicking on it in the Slide Navigator and typing Apple-C. Right after you do this, type Apple-V which will paste an copy of your slide right after the current one.
Step 2.
Select the Bullet box on slide two (slide 4 in my image) and Copy it.
Step 3.
Launch Omni Graffle and let it create a blank Document. NOTE: OmniGraffle 2.x or higher is probably required for this to work. If you have an older version, you can download a free update here. Go to the Preferences, and click on the Export icon. make sure you check Transparent Background our your images will come through with a white background.
Step 4.
Paste your bullet box into it.

If you use white text, as I did, you'll see something like this in OmniGraffle
Step 5.
Copy the bullet box again off the OmniGraffle page
Step 6.
Switch back to Keynote and Paste the bullet box on slide two. You'll get something that looks JUSt like the original box, but it can't be edited. Move it in place OVER the the original bullet box so it looks like there is only one box. You may have to mess with "Move forward" and "Move Backward" now as we need the working bullet box to be accessable. Move the original box over the the right of the pasted one. If you have edge guides turned on you'll get guides that keep you in line with the other box. If not, hold the Shift key as you drag to lock it into the horizontal.

Here are the two boxes almost on top of each other.

Here is the regular Body bullet box being moved over to the right, in line with the pasted one.

Step 7.
Just change the second set of bullets, and make sure you put builds on SLIDE ONE so that each bullet comes in by itself. Do the same for the RIGHT bullet box on slide two, and make sure you turn OFF the setting for "First build requires click" or you'll have to click twice to get the second set of bullets started. Also, I set my first slide with a transition of NONE so it wouldn't look like the slide changed.
Other ideas:
This tutorial builds one slide with 5 bullets on it, then a second that leaves the first 5 and moves in 5 more next to it. You could copy and paste EACH bullet seperately into OmniGraffle and bring them all in on one page if needed. A little more work, but it will look great.
