Jumsoft Theme Pack
Set of seven new Themes for Keynote
Page Four: Even More Themes
Simple
Simple is, well...simple. It uses a very light white/blue background shade with very clean photo cut-outs. You won't see it in my tiny screen shots, but each photo cut-out has a thin, soft black line around it. It actually looks pretty good. This particular theme got hit with a bug that hit me while working on one of my themes. Some of the slide thumbnails have an old image that just won't change. They come out with a black gradient on them, even though the slide itself is fine. It's only cosmetic, and it won't affect your shows.

The other pages look pretty much the same. If you are looking for something very clean and simple, this is it. Nothing fancy, but nice clean rounded photo cut-outs, and a subtle color tinted background.

Valentine
At first, this one had me scratching my head. While I liked the rounded red shadowed background image...the fuzzy heart shaped photo cut-outs looked really cheesy to me. Then I dropped in an image of a wedding couple from my Hemera Photo Objects collection just to see how it looked. I was surprised that I actually like it.

I wouldn't give a presentation with this Theme, but if I wanted to make a cute slide show for say, a couple I know who recently got married, this would work great. Here's the vertical layout:

Jumsoft got bit again by a Keynote bug, and also by what I call a "resizng Theme error." While the Zapfino font is beautiful, and it fits this theme perfectly, it is a mess with spacing and sizing. Many of the text boxes need to be moved around and resized to show the font properly. While this isn't a big deal, there is a problem with this font and using custom bullets. For some reason they appear MUCH too large. I had this same problem when I tried this font in a Theme test. Here's a shot of what I am talking about:

While this small image doesn't show it, that heart bullet is very pixelated and looks pretty bad. I had to change the bullet percentage to about 20% to get it to match the little white heart above the photo cut-out. I don't blame Jumsoft for this, I think it's a font bug in the system or in keynote. Also, looking at version 2 of this set it appears that they may have fixed this problem.

The other problem with this Theme was with the 800X600 version. At least one of the title boxes didn't get moved off the pasteboard when Jumsoft resized the 1024X768 version down to make it 800X600. Not a big problem, but something they should have spotted (this error still was not fixed in version 2).

Wood
This one really caught my eye. The background isn't just some shot of woodgrain, it looks more like a cutting table that has been blurred. There are what appear to be score marks all over the image, and it seems to work well for a slide background. This theme uses American Typewriter again, but it looks okay. You might want to dig around at 1001freefonts.com and see if you can find something that works with the wood background, just for fun. Here's a shot of the vertical photo layout:

and just so you can see how the photo cut-outs look, here's a closeup of that same image:

The cut-outs look like they might have been made with something like Extensis Photo-Frame, but they really look good. I just wondered why Jumsoft didn't use them on the Photo Artist Theme though, as they really seem to match that Theme better than this one. The only other thing I noticed with this theme was that the tiny wood chip bullet gets lost on a large slide. The contrast isn't high enough to make it visible. Hopefully Jumsoft will take another look at it and either change the color, or find another way to make it show up better.
