Peripherally-related to Keynote, there was discussion on the Keynote Yahoo group two weeks ago about the "ACOM wireless presentation device," so I'm writing to contribute my early experience with a similar product: the Interlink Remote Point Navigator Wireless (long name for a clicker). I bought mine at Amazon for $115.

This is only a mini-review because I don't want to belabor the story of how I decided what clicker to buy. If you're a good shopper, you can weigh the pros and cons yourself. If you're a very good shopper, you've already determined that $115 is too much to pay for a clicker. I agree. I bought this clicker anyway, because I want to look cool when I give a talk. This clicker is small with rounded edges, I can conceal it in the palm of my hand, and its stainless steel finish looks good when the audience does get a glimpse of it (or come for a closer look after).

For this group, I'm writing primarily to share this: The Interlink clicker works with Keynote. The forward button sends Page Up, the backward button sends Page Down, and the blank screen button sends 'b', which are all valid Keynote keyboard shortcuts. Forward, back, blank, and laser pointer (its fourth button) are all this clicker can do. 95% of the time, I just use forward and laser, and 4 of the remaining 5% of the time I use backward and blank. Until Keynote gets hyperlinks, there's not much else to do for the last 1% of the time.

One more thing on price: If my TiBook had Bluetooth, I would have considered buying a Sony Ericsson phone and using that as my clicker for about the same price, but I would sacrifice the laser pointer. Again, it's hard to look cool giving a talk while double-fisting it with a laser pointer and your cell phone. NOTE: Another reader points out THIS solution for the Sony Phones.
