I tried setting up the Ad Hoc network and I'm still not having luck. When I go into Keynote and remotes my phone doesn't appear. Are there any other secrets?

I have purchased the Wooji-Juice Stage Hand remote, I have a Apple laptop 10.5.8 and using a keynote 2008. I was able to follow the instructions up to stage 3 but was unable to continue because the instructions refer to keynote 2009 which does not appear on the 2008 version. Have you got any instructions for me to continue ?

I got a remote called "1 for all Remote Presenter" and it was a bit cheaper and also had a nice automated setup for the Mac side that made all the tricky networking you describe unnecessary. It's not really as pretty as the Apple Remote, but it seemed the easies for me.

Yeah, if you were to get say, a high range wifi router and use it with both machines would certainly let you use your iphone as a remote. Thankfully though, a theater is all open space, so you might be able to get by with a standard router and see if you can stick it near the projection window. That would probably still give you enough range.

hi
I am giving a talk in a commercial movie theater. I have to have my computer in the projection room and need somehow to control it from the front. Any idea about the range of, say creating a wifi network from a mac pro? Can the same principle be done with an external, more powerful airport router that I could actually place in the auditorium, to be seen by both the computer and the iphone? Obviously, range is my concern...

thanks,
Chip

Thank you! This was very helpful, as keynote remote preferences was not recognizing my iphone despite being on the same wifi network.
