Sorenson Squeeze 5 is a major release of Sorenson Media’s award-winning compression and encoding software that offers speed increases, superior audio and video quality, workflow enhancements and many pre-processing options. Using Squeeze, you can compress video for use in your presentations or compress your Keynote QuickTime movie to Flash, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 (PSP, iPod, etc.) and VC-1 for Blu-ray use.

One of the most dramatic enhancements is the ability to encode as many as 1.5 files on each of the host computer’s processor cores. With most of Apple’s product line (dual core) this means 3 files at once. On a quad-core processor system like the Mac Pro, you can process six files simultaneously. The video quality for the MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and H.264 encoders has been improved (especially when using HD settings) and the audio processing options now include AC-3 compatible 5.1 to 7.1 surround sound for higher quality DVD encoding. Audio processing has been further enhanced by the addition of support for many third-party VST audio filters (BIAS Soundsoap is included in the Squeeze Pro versions).

To help manage the task of encoding many output versions from one QuickTime exported Keynote presentation, Squeeze now includes the new Audience Presets that allows users to bundle preprocessing filters, filter order, encoding settings and even output destinations into a single custom preset. You can also sort by either format or output target to help you find the best option quickly.
