Free iPhone remote control for Keynote

KeymoteWe just received word today of an iPhone remote control app called Keymote. Based on the Telekenesis project, it allows you to control your Keynote presentations with your iPhone or iPod touch. After installing and configuring Telekenesis, you then install the Keymote app and you’ll see the Keymote icon added to the list of available Telekenesis apps. Then, all you have to do is open a presentation in Keynote, tap the Keymote icon, and you can see your current slide as well as presenters notes and two buttons for simple navigation: Previous and Next.

Currently, Keymote isn’t supported on multiple monitor configurations because the Telekenesis infrastructure isn’t supported. So, the display configuration when presenting should be set for Mirror Displays. Also, the source code for Keymote is accessible inside the .tapp package by right-clicking the package and choosing “Show Package Contents”. You’re encouraged to take a look, edit and share your contributions with the community.

We’ve taken it for a brief test drive and it was cool to see the slides being displayed. Though they appear compressed horizontally, the image is clear enough to be able to make out slides even with only minor differences. Also, this isn’t a full motion display, so you don’t see Keynote’s fancy transitions.

You can find out more and download the app from the Keymote website.
