I love Keynote 08, except for one thing. And it's big. I often duplicate screens and recycle the usable parts, replacing old text with new content. Saves time and work! However, in '08, the outline continues to reflect the original content. The text is not updated in the outline version. As an educator, I rely on being able to produce outlines for my presentations. Can't do it unless each presentation is created from scratch. Bummer! Any solutions out there. Any known reasons why the text is not updated in the outline? (Yes, it has been re-saved with new text.) Any help appreciated.

This worked for me!

The workaround is to go to the Keynote Preferences, in the Slideshow section, and check "Allow Exposé, Dashboard, and others to use screen".

Addendum:

I forgot to mention an additional work-a-round. Within KN 08, select File Open, navigate to the desired file, select, and open. The KN file will open in KN 08 without error. (I'm suspect most of you have discovered this, but thought it was worth mentioning).

All:

I've also found a work-a-round to open files with KN 08 to avoid the error. Simply drag the file you want to open to the KN 08 icon on the doc. The file will open using KN 08 without the error.

As for quicktime videos not playing, I had an issue with this after upgrading to leopard. I found I needed to reinstall my (flip for mac WMV) and MPEG 2 quicktime components. Once these add-ins were up and running all works perfectly.

Good Luck!

Mike, the problem with video playback has a solution: go to the Keynote preferences, in the section of the presentation prefs, and select "Allow Expose, Dashboard and others to use screen".

I've read it on http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1236793&tstart=0 and now everything works on both our MBPs.

In my lab we are experiencing problems with videos in keynote'08: if a slide contains a video it is shown as a black screen.

It happens on two different MacBooks Pro.

Videos seem to work okay on my tower, it's fonts that are the issue for me now, specifically Helvetica Neue
