Someone noticed that Steve was using an effect that was NOT in Keynote 08. Well, we now know it’s called Shimmer because the Keynote 4.0.1 update has added it back in. We have no idea why it was removed from the shipping version, especially when Steve used it during the same show that debuted Keynote 08, but we’re glad it’s back.

  1. Now, where’s emboss? :)

  2. This update also fixed a problem with opacity reduced movie playback. In Keynote 4.0 it added a translucent gray to the whole thing, now it’s clear as a bell as it was in prior versions. In other words, the Global Animated theme from Keynote Theme Park is fine for Keynote 4 now.

  3. It’s QUITE resource intensive, though. On my “last year” MBP, using it on anything larger than a couple hundred pixels wide reaaaalllly stresses the video card.
