  1. does anyone know how they make those editable shapes?

  2. some are imported from PPT I assume. Others are made in parts, which you can mix and match and stick together. Several of us are working on a system to get SVG images into Keynote and keep them editable (at least size, fill and stroke). The new shapes can even have holes in them! Look for some cool stuff in the future.
